Objective:
The goal of Checkers is to capture all of your opponent's pieces or block them so they cannot move.
Setup:
- 8x8 checkered board with 64 squares.
- Each player starts with 12 pieces, placed on the dark squares of the three rows closest to them.
- You can choose your stone color in the settings.
Playing the Game:
- Moves:
- Players take turns moving a piece diagonally to an adjacent unoccupied dark square.
- If an opponent's piece is diagonally adjacent and the square beyond it is vacant, you must "jump" the opponent's piece. The jumped piece is removed from the board. Multiple jumps are allowed if possible.
- Queen Pieces:
- When a piece reaches the farthest row from the player (the queen row), it becomes a queen. The queen is marked with a crown.
- Queens can move both forward and backward diagonally.
- Winning the Game:
- You win by capturing all of your opponent's pieces or blocking them so they cannot make a move.
Rules:
- Jumping an opponent's piece is mandatory where applicable.
- A player cannot move their piece back to the square it came from on the next move.
- If a player cannot make a move, either because all their pieces are blocked or captured, they lose the game.
Tips for Playing:
- Protect your back row to prevent the opponent from getting a queen.
- Try to control the center of the board.
- Plan your moves to set up multiple jumps.
Enjoy your game of Checkers, and remember, strategy is key!
