Yes, if their connection is lost, severed, or if they leave the game, they lose points -- unless they somehow manage to get back into the game after some time and somehow manage to win the game against the AI, in which case they get points for a won match. However, playing against the AI is in no way easier than playing against a human opponent, therefore intentionally leaving a game and finishing against the computer is (often literally) pointless.
