In every online match, after being idle (your turn, but no card played) for 20 seconds, a 10 second timer is displayed. When this timer has run out, the rightmost card of your hand is played automatically.

This happens to prevent players from waiting for the computer to take over, and to keep the game going during short absences. If you need to pause the game for some reason, you can do so with the Pause button.
